Since I really enjoy crafting and making educational activities I was really excited to be contacted by Chalkola to review their newly released Chalk Ink markers.
About their products:
These markers come in 2 sizes: a set of 10 Premium Wet Wipe Markers in a 6mm tip, and their newly released Larger Platinum Series Chalk Markers-in a set of 8 markers with a 15mm tip.
Although they can be used on any Non Porous Surface (Like Chalkboards, Whiteboards, Windows, Mirrors, Plastics and more) it's always best to test them on a small surface first. The Pens are water based - and can be erased easily by using wet cloth. They provide all of the fun of Chalk without the Dust!
They are Non-Toxic, xylene-free, and odor-free which makes them a great option for Home Daycare Providers. They work great on Chalkboards and also make a great alternative to Dry Erase Markers. They dry quickly for craft projects and clean up easily. They can also be used around the house such as labeling plastic/glass containers, and even creating Welcoming Decor on your Windows or other non-porous surfaces.
Color and Shape Stone Memory Game
I haven't had much experience with these types of markers before so I was excited to give them a try. I picked these stones at the Dollar Tree and I was inspired to make a simple Color and Shape Stone Memory Game.
Before getting started with these markers it's important to prime them. You will need to shake them back and forth and prime the tips by pushing them down similar to paint pen. This does take a bit of patience but once they are primed you are ready to go.
I was impressed with how easy it was to write with these on the stones, and they were dry in no time. I can see after being handled the chalk paint will chip away-but it didn't bother me because the ease of their use outweighed the longevity of this activity (which took me less than 5 minutes to make). Using these pens in this capacity would make it easy to create education games like this one on the fly.
Directions for Play: Flip the stones face down, and take turns flipping over one at a time until you match a shape, or Color.
I'm thankful to have had a chance to try out these products. I have actually used them several times around the house since receiving them. I've created a Window display and Hero Stones for Veterans Day. I've also used them on my Black Refrigerator to make notes for my Son and keep track of items we need to add to our grocery list. I'm looking forward to using these chalk markers to create some cute Holiday Gifts. Some of the highlights for me are how easily they wipe off with a wet paper towel, how vibrant the colors are, and how quickly they dry.
