Kids love to mix paint! It's just like magic! For this activity we are going to make brown!
In this tutorial I am using a black & white Turkey image (from my Turkey and Thanksgiving activity pack) you can download this free sample below!
For this activity you will need:
B&W Turkey Image
Red Tempera paint
Yellow Tempera paint
Blue Tempera paint
A Pre-Printed B&W Image for each child
A Paint Brush for each child
1. Provide each child with their own paint brush and B&W Turkey Image.
2. Talk about how for this activity we are going to be making the color brown, and have the children practice "swirling" their paint brush on the paper.
Step 3: Place drops of Color onto each image. 3 drops of red, 3 drops of yellow and 1 drop of blue. *Note the shade of brown will vary with your paint, You may want to do a pre-mix test before the activity and adjust if necessary.
Step 4: Once everyone has their paint, encourage the children to start
swirling the colors together.
Step 5: Keep swirling ......
Step 6: and swirling some more... until the image is covered in brown paint.
You may want to print a few extra images or provide them with extra paper to re-peat the activity. You can try mixing other colors . Let them experiment mixing different colors to see what new ones they can make!
