*Update (Sept. 2017) *
This printable has retired! Please check out the newest
version of my binder here.
I'm so excited to share my Circle Time Binder with you. My Circle Time Binder combines your favorite circle time activities (Weather, Days/Months, Calendar Activities, Colors, Shapes, Letters, Who's Here, etc.) into a portable binder. It's perfect for educators who are limited on wall space, may want to take their circle time on the go (outside, field trips, etc.) or those who have varying ages in their home working on different skills.
It can be customized to fit your needs
One of the best features about the Circle Time Binder is that it can be customized to meet you needs. You can print as many of the pages as you need for the children in your care. You can easily add new activities to meet the changing needs of the children in your care. You can even create a customized circle time binder for each of the children in your care. In addition to my printables you can add your own printed finger plays, thematic photos, and printable activities, to customize your binder.

How do I put it together?
This is the perfect opportunity for you to get your creative juices flowing. You can make it as simple, or interactive as you want. In addition to the printables you will also need a Binder, Page Protectors (or you can laminate your pages). To make it more interactive I also recommend purchasing velcro dots, baseball card holders and dry erase markers.
There are so many options are how you can customize the printables. I've featured each page below with some ideas you can incorporate in your circle time routine-and ways you can extend the activity. I'd love to see how you are using it in your space-please be sure to send me your photos.
Start your day with Who's Here
I've included a "Who's Here" today page, as well as a "Who's at Home" page. I've also included blank frames. To customize these pages you can add photos of your children to the blank frames, or just their names, The children will have fun adding moving their names to the Who is here today side-while at the same time learning name recognition.
Expand This: You can expand on this activity by having the children locate their friends names, or create cards with just their last names on them. If you have created individual binders you can also insert a Handwriting page, and use a White Board pen to have the children practice writing their names. For added creativity you can create new "Name Tags" Seasonally or related to your Themes. Laminated the "Name" tags extends their wear.
*Quick Tip: If you have a Label Making Machine-Consider laminating the Blank Name Tags, and placing Labels on the Name Tags-This will allow them to be changed out easily for future use.
What's the Weather Like Today?
Children love telling the weather! Add more than one Velcro Dot to this page to allow for variances in the weather.
Expand This: Talk about what you might need to wear outside today, take photos outside and use them as your weather cards, or graph the Weather. Add a Weather station outside your window so the children can "See" the weather (a windsock, wind chime, Flag, Rain Gauge, or outdoor thermometer).
How are you Feeling?
Use this page to give the children an opportunity to share how they are feeling. Print enough emotion cards for everyone to have a chance to share. This part of your circle time focuses on teaching Social Emotional Skills.
Expand This: Create your own emotion cards, Take photos of the children replicating each emotion-and match up the activity cards. Use this time to talk about how we can support our friends who are feeling sad, or upset. How we can be good friends. It's a great time to sing a song about feelings-one of my favorites is "If you are happy and you know it", or read a short book about emotions. Pass around a mirror and have the children practice making each "Emotion".
Use this poster to have the children practice their colors. You can take turns calling on the children to tell what each color is, or you can turn this page into an interactive color matching activity.
Expand this: Add one of my Color Matching Printable Activities to your Binder, Practice matching "Color Words" to the Color Photos, Send the children on a hunt to find an object of the same Color, or pull the color cards out of a bag.
I've included a Basic Shapes poster. You can expand this: By calling out the shape and having the children point to it, or find an object in the room of a similar shape. For older children you can practice matching Shape words to the shapes themselves.
I've included a Lower Case and Upper Case Letter posters. In addition to singing the alphabet song, you can also have the children practice the short and long "Sounds" of each letter.
Expand This: You can turn this into an interactive "Case Matching" activity, or add a complimentary interactive activity after this page. Send the children on a "Letter Hunt", ask them to find "Letters in their Name", Draw letters out of a bag and have them locate the letter on the poster. Say the Letter sound and have the children locate the letter on the poster.
What's the Date?
I've included a few different options for recording the Date,Some options include:
Get to know the Days of the Week
Practice Naming the Days of the Week, or create an interactive Calendar activity to show what day it was Yesterday, What day it is Today and What day it will be Tomorrow.
