It's never too late to re-arrange and create learning spaces in your Daycare. Even if you don't have a dedicated "Daycare" space you can make subtle changes around your home to make clean up easier and quicker.
My first recommendation is to draw a rough floor plan of your home or Daycare space and divide it into "Wet", and "Dry" Areas. "Wet" areas are spaces in your home that have durable flooring such as Vinyl, or Tile. The other areas that are Carpeted, or have Rugs should be circled and labeled as "Dry" areas.
Once you have defined your spaces you can determine where you will conduct your activities. Remember: Spaces can do double duty. For example: You may house your Art Area in your dining room, and use the same space for Feeding. Your Circle time area in your living room may become your Music and Movement space, and then your nap space.
* Small basket next to a comfy chair or sofa can become an instant reading space
* A Bulletin Board with a Clock, Calendar and space for your Newsletter can Welcome Parents to your Daycare (Hang photos of the kids for a personal touch).
*A Bench, and Hooks for Coats and Back packs is a space saving option to individual cubbies.
*A Sand and Water Table with a lid, allows you to have more control over when this learning space is "open" for use. The top of the Sand/Water Top can do double duty: Use it for puzzles or small construction play.
