This fun marble maze was created by Daycare Spaces member, Jen Hinton of Stepping Stones Pre-K Academy. She attached Noise making-whistling tubes to wire cube shelving panels.
DIY Drying Rack
Using the same type of wire panels, and zip ties, Jen made this DIY Drying rack. It would also make a great rack for puzzles, or a place to store the kiddos paperwork to send home.
To add some extra pizazz, Jen added duct tape to her shelves. She used different colored duct tape to organize her learning spaces (for example: Yellow=Science).
Outdoor Music Space
This clever outdoor music station was built by Daycare Spaces member, Laura Hick of SweetPea Dayhome. Laura was able to find xylophones and chimes from thrift stores. She purchased the pipes from the plumbing section at the hardware store. To get the pipes to sit in the hole she glued a connector piece to each one. To "play" the tubes- Laura cut out a rubber "mallet" from a garden kneeling pad.
This outdoor kitchen was built by Daycare Spaces member Teresa Becker, of Heartprints Daycare. You can see more of her outdoor space here. Her pallet kitchen is a young chef's dream. Although Teresa is lucky enough to have a working sink-many of the objects shown can be found as yard sales or thrift stores.
Want more ideas?
Has your Daycare Space become overcrowded? Are you spending too much time picking stuff up? Do you have trouble finding things you need? Do you feel overwhelmed by "Stuff"? If so, we invite you to join us to participate in our 2016 15-minute Decluttering Challenge.
How does it work?
Each day I will highlight a focus area. You mission (should you choose to except it) is to eliminate 1 items (or more) that you no longer need, want, use or love within the focus area.
Remember the focus of these challenges is to de-clutter, not organize, your space. We will be following up with an Organizing Challenge in March.
How long will it take?
These challenges are designed to be completed in 15-minutes or less-think naptime, before/after opening, etc.
If you have allotted extra time for the challenge, I won't stop you, but please remember to pace yourself. Our spaces didn't become cluttered overnight-and we won't be able to declutter them overnight either.
Moving too quickly can cause someone to become overwhelmed. Baby steps ... baby steps.
Step 1 (Optional): Print my Monthly Calendar that will show you our Daily Challenges. Check off a square for each of the items you let go.
Step 2: Check this website daily or my Facebook Page for the Daily Decluttering Challenge.

Amy McMonagle from BuggaBee & Me Daycare.
Amy sewed these large snowballs from felt. After the children have stacked their snowman, they can embellish him with snowman features that attach with velcro.
You can also add a snow shovel to your Dramatic Play space this week (such as this adorable space from STA Classroom). Add Cotton Balls, Purchase indoor snowballs, Foam "Snow" balls, or even White Socks, rolled into balls, to the space. The children can practice shoveling the snow.
Items to enhance your space:
Consider adding Construction vehicles, cotton balls, or white pompom's to your construction area. The kids can practice "plowing" their streets.
This snowy road was created by Daycare Spaces group member
Jen Hinton of Stepping Stones Pre-K Academy.
The children can re-create their own snowmen from their favorite stories.
